Founders Samantha Ghiotti and Liam McCance created SJ Mobile Labs, a Singapore based holding company in order to bring together global and Japanese investors to build a connected financial experience for new money habits in the Japanese market.

Our founders

Sam GhiottiCo-founder, Chief Executive Officer
20+ years in finance and technology

Sam is consistently recognized as top cohort of women in finance and tech, her experience spanning investment, entrepreneurial, executive and board roles across 4 continents.

Sam held several operating roles in large financial institutions building digital businesses and transforming organizations such as American Express, First Data and Royal Bank of Scotland.

She then spent over a decade building Anthemis Group, a fintech venture investment firm, where she seeded, scaled and exited businesses, working with world class entrepreneurs, creatives and engineers. She recently ran Singlife in Singapore until its transaction with Aviva Singapore (S$3.2 billion).

Italian born, Sam holds a graduate degree at the London School of Economics.

Liam McCanceCo-founder, Chief Creative Officer
20+ years in brand, marketing and tech

Liam is a creative entrepreneur who has built and exited businesses across adtech, fintech and ecommerce.

Starting in advertising he worked with agencies across the globe, developing a passion for marketing and brand. With this experience Liam co-founded Vocanic which went on to become South-East Asia's largest social media agency that was ultimately acquired by WPP.

Liam pivoted his focus to fintech building one of the region's largest fintech development teams, teen neo-bank Canvas and joiningSinglife as its CMO and then chief strategy officer.

Australian born, Liam is passionate about taking consumer insights and translating them into tech products that consumers really want.

Yasunori KumeChief Operating Officer
30+ years in financial services

Yasunori is an experienced business leader developing significant financial services businesses in Japan.

Most recently Yasunori ran BNP Paribas Cardif's business in Japan, building its industry-leading position in creditor protection business and successfully completing strategic partnership with a leading Japanese bank. Prior to that, he worked as Executive Director at Axa Life in Japan, leading the development of its bancassurance business.

Japanese born, Yasunori is always passionate about developing an engaging culture and making positive impact initiatives.

André AmaralChief Product Officer
15+ years in product management, marketing and UX/UI

André is a Brazilian/German entrepreneur, product owner and user experience designer with a background in fintech, marketing and creative services.

André led creative leadership functions at global advertising agencies (JWT, Wunderman, DDB, FCB), communication research centers (Fabrica), tech companies (IBM) and most recently financial services (Helvetia Group’ssmile.direct,Singlife), across South America, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Before leading the rebranding, customer experience and mobile programs at Singlife, André founded and led a distributed tech and design talent network serving brands like HSBC, Emirates, CNN Middle East, Nike, and Nokia.

André graduated in Social Communications at ESPM in Brazil, with continued education at Hyper Island (UX), MIT Sloan (AI) and Stanford GSB (Social Entrepreneurship).
